Founded in 1939, Intergas is a leading manufacturer of domestic boilers in the Netherlands, with manufacturing facilities set-up locally, as well as in Canada and sales offices in the UK and US. Freshstream was attracted to the business by its market-leading position in the Netherlands, one of the most developed markets globally, with its technically advanced product delivered at affordable prices. Intergas was sold to a trade buyer in June 2019.

The value creation plan for Intergas consisted of three pillars:
- Internationalisation
- Digitalisation
- Sustainability
When Freshstream acquired Intergas, the majority of its turnover was from domestic boilers in the local Dutch market. Through a series of strategy workshops supported by in-depth market studies, we expanded the strategy to cover a wider range of heating solutions, including heat pumps, in turn reducing the company’s reliance on fossil fuels.
We also developed an international expansion strategy, doubling down on the nascent business units in the UK and the US, as well as entering into China for the first time.
Finally, we supported the introduction of connectivity modules in its next generation of products, allowing them to be monitored and serviced remotely, thereby reducing the total cost of ownership.
Under our ownership, the company also opened its second high-tech factory in Coevorden, and significantly strengthened its senior management team with the introduction of a new CEO, CFO, and Operations Director.
